The proscribed Ulfa-I faced another setback as two core members, Bhargab Hazarika alias Ban Asom and Astitva Axom, surrendered to security forces in Namsai district, Arunachal Pradesh. The militants, trained in Myanmar, fled their camp, crossed the border, and were subsequently taken to Tinsukia, Assam for questioning. This follows a recent surrender of Arunodoi Dohutia, a close aide to Ulfa-I chief Paresh Baruah, on November 23, marking the second significant loss for the group in a month.
