Two missing minor girls rescued in joint operation by Arunachal Police

Two minor girls who had been missing for nearly two weeks were successfully rescued in a joint operation by the Arunachal Pradesh Police. The coordinated mission was carried out by officers of Diyun Police Station in Changlang district and Papu Hills Police Station in Naharlagun. The rescue took place on August 13 at Pachin Colony, Naharlagun, bringing an end to a tense fortnight for the families of the missing girls.

The two girls, aged 14 and 16, hailed from Mudukko Nalah under Diyun Circle in Changlang district. According to police reports, the minors disappeared on July 31, sending their families into deep distress. After days of searching on their own, the parents formally lodged a missing complaint at Diyun Police Station on August 5. Upon receiving the complaint, Inspector Ongsa Ronrang, Officer-in-Charge of Diyun PS, swiftly initiated an investigation. Technical surveillance, combined with analysis of digital footprints, helped officers trace the suspected whereabouts of the minors to Naharlagun, the bustling township near the state capital.

Once the information was confirmed through relatives and backed by official communication from Diyun, the matter was taken up with Papu Hills Police Station. Officers in Naharlagun acted without delay and conducted a rescue operation at Pachin Colony. The minors were located safely and immediately shifted to Oju Mission, a well-known shelter home in Naharlagun, for temporary protection and care. On August 14, the girls were handed over to Inspector Ronrang and escorted back to Diyun. They were produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Changlang, as per the mandated legal process. The committee is now overseeing their rehabilitation, including counselling sessions and support measures to help them recover from the ordeal.
