‘USTM is a danger to Assam’ says Assam CM also accuses Congress

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has accused private University of Meghalaya over maximum flood in the region.

University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM), founded by Mahbubul Hoque who is also its chancellor. The University is located in 9th Mile area in Ri-Bhoi district of neighbouring Meghalaya, near Assam’s Jorabat which serves as an entry point to Guwahati, Assam. During former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi the University was established.

Assam CM said, “USTM is a danger to Assam. We will go the National Green Tribunal against it.” As USTM has cut the slope of a hill on its campus to build a medical college in such a way that the water flows to the Assam due to which the region is facing much of flood.

Further he also asked Congress leader Bhupen Kumar Borah to accompany him to see how artificial flood due to the University is created in Assam.
