WWII bombs found by local resident near Indian Air Force range

Two unexploded bombs, believed to date back to World War II, were discovered near Murtem Koro, close to Paro village in the Dollungmukh Circle of Arunachal Pradesh. The discovery was made by a local resident near the Dollungmukh River, in proximity to an Indian Air Force (IAF) firing range.

Following the find, the villager promptly alerted local authorities, including the police and IAF. Superintendent of Police (SP) Kamle Kardak Riba, along with his team, arrived at the scene to secure the area. The site has been cordoned off to ensure public safety, with villagers instructed to stay away due to potential hazards.

In a meeting with Gaon Burahs (GBs) and Gram Panchayat members, SP Kamle emphasized the risks associated with the unexploded ordnance and provided guidance on safety measures.

IAF officials confirmed that the bombs, weighing 100 kg and 500 kg respectively, remain intact. The district administration of Kamle, in coordination with the IAF, is devising plans for the safe defusal or controlled detonation of the ordnance to mitigate any risks to the community.
