Zepto scraps all handling and surge fees, offers free delivery on orders above Rs 99

Quick commerce platform Zepto has removed handling fees and surge charges on all orders and waived delivery charges for purchases above Rs 99, making it the most competitively priced player in India’s 10-minute delivery segment, competing with Blinkit and Swiggy Instamart.

Under Zepto’s “All New Zepto Experience” initiative, customers pay no handling, rain, or surge fees, and orders over Rs 99 attract zero delivery charges. For orders below Rs 99, a Rs 30 delivery fee applies, but no additional small cart fees are levied. The platform has also eliminated convenience fees on tobacco and cigarette products. Zepto’s Rs 99 free-delivery threshold is the lowest among competitors. In comparison, Blinkit charges Rs 54 for orders under Rs 99 (including Rs 30 delivery, Rs 4 handling, and Rs 20 small cart fee), while Instamart levies around Rs 65, factoring in GST.

For example, an Rs 84 order costs Rs 115.50 on Zepto, Rs 143 on Blinkit, and Rs 154 on Instamart. Above Rs 99, Zepto waives all fees, whereas Blinkit and Instamart still charge delivery and handling until higher thresholds. Analysts note Zepto’s strategy targets market share growth, though sustainability amid profitability pressures remains uncertain, leaving consumers as the primary beneficiaries of this competitive pricing war.
