ANYA demands swift justice for 12-year-old Sainik School cadet in Arunachal

The All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) on Monday urged the Arunachal Pradesh government to ensure immediate and uncompromising justice for 12-year-old Tadu Haro, a Class VII cadet of Sainik School Niglok, who died under suspicious circumstances on November 1. In a formal meeting with Education Minister P.D. Sona, ANYA submitted a detailed representation expressing shock over the incident and alleging that the young cadet was subjected to severe ragging, harassment, and negligence within the school premises—an institution traditionally respected for its discipline and role in shaping future Armed Forces personnel.

ANYA President Jamru Ruja warned that failure to take prompt action may compel the association to initiate a democratic movement across the state. The association demanded a fast-track court hearing, immediate termination of school authorities responsible for dereliction of duty, and removal of accused students. For minors involved, ANYA called for placement in a juvenile facility to ensure an unbiased investigation. The group also called for strict enforcement of anti-ragging policies in all residential schools, including VKV, JNV, RKM, KGBV, government, and private institutions, with stringent penalties for repeat offenders. ANYA further proposed declaring November 1 as “State Anti-Ragging Day” in memory of Tadu Haro.

Highlighting a decline in moral and ethical standards among students, the association appealed to make Moral Science a compulsory subject up to Class VIII from the next academic session. ANYA reiterated its demand for a free, fair, and impartial probe, urging the state to ensure strict punishment for everyone involved to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
