Arunachal cabinet approves key legislative and administrative reforms

The Arunachal Pradesh State Cabinet, convened under the leadership of Chief Minister Pema Khandu, deliberated on several pivotal matters and made significant decisions aimed at bolstering governance and public welfare.

Foremost among the decisions is the approval for the enactment of “The Arunachal Pradesh Examination (Measures for Prevention of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Act 2024.” This legislative initiative targets the prevention of malpractices such as question paper leaks during recruitment examinations conducted by various agencies. The proposed Act includes stringent penalties, including imprisonment and fines up to one crore rupees. The bill is slated for introduction during the upcoming second session of the 8th Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly starting July 19, with the aim of ensuring transparent and fair recruitment processes across government posts.

In a move to enhance efficiency in human resource management, the Cabinet also endorsed the encadrement of 13 categories of posts within the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB) into the common cadre of the Arunachal Pradesh Civil Service and Arunachal Pradesh Secretariat Service. This decision mirrors a similar consolidation previously implemented for posts under the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission. It facilitates the transfer of officers from the Arunachal Pradesh Civil Service and Arunachal Pradesh Secretariat Service to APSSB on a tenure basis, promoting streamlined recruitment procedures and effective governance.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister and Cabinet Ministers received detailed briefings from senior law enforcement officials, including the Director General of Police, Inspector General of Law and Order, Secretary of Home Affairs, and the Superintendent of Police (Capital). Discussions centered on the implementation strategies for three new criminal laws aimed at improving public safety and operational efficiency within the state.
