Lower Siang deputy commissioner Rujjum Rakshap conducted a high-level conference with department heads, administrative officers, and members from the Indian Army, ITBP, and BRTF stationed here on Wednesday as an important step to guarantee disaster preparedness ahead of the south-west monsoon. Developing an efficient and adaptable disaster management plan (DMP) and evaluating the district’s readiness were the main goals. Rakshap, who is also the chairman of the district disaster management authority (DDMA), stressed how vulnerable Likabali and the district are to natural disasters and asked all departments and stakeholders to remain vigilant and informed.
He emphasized the importance of proactive, well-coordinated planning that can be quickly activated in the case of a crisis. Departments have been requested to keep in regular contact with the district administration, update their contingency plans, and create resource inventories. Rakshap further emphasized how crucial it is for all agencies to coordinate their efforts in order to guarantee the safety and welfare of locals in the event of a disaster.
