Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurates Rs 86 crore projects to boost Arunachal’s infrastructure

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman virtually inaugurated infrastructure projects worth ₹86 crore from the Civil Secretariat in Itanagar, with Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein in attendance. The event was followed by a review meeting on state finances, chaired by the Union Minister.

During the meeting, the focus was on strategies to strengthen the state’s revenue, with Chief Minister Khandu emphasizing the need for forward-looking financial planning to sustain Arunachal’s steady rise in revenue collections. The projects include the upgradation of district hospitals in Khonsa and Changlang, construction of roads in Pasighat, flood protection at Deobeel, and several Minor Irrigation Projects (MIPs) in Lower Siang, all funded through the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF).

“These initiatives will significantly enhance healthcare, improve connectivity, and bolster flood protection efforts, ensuring a better quality of life for the people of Arunachal Pradesh,” Sitharaman remarked during the inauguration.
