Markets shut down in Kra Daadi: Gilo Tabiang and Kudung Bazaars suspended until further orders

In a significant move aimed at administrative compliance, the Deputy Commissioner of Kra Daadi district in Arunachal Pradesh has ordered the immediate suspension of two prominent weekly markets—Gilo Tabiang Wednesday Market and Kudung Saturday Market. The suspension, issued through an official notification, comes in response to directions received from higher authorities during a high-level video conference held on April 30.

The virtual meeting, chaired by the Hon’ble Minister for Home Affairs, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, included senior officials from multiple districts and deliberated on matters concerning local governance, law and order, and public welfare. As an outcome of the discussions, the district administration of Kra Daadi was directed to implement precautionary measures, including halting these public gatherings.

Although the exact reason for the market closures has not been disclosed in the official communication, such decisions are typically linked to concerns around security, crowd management, or health-related advisories. Weekly markets like those in Gilo Tabiang and Kudung often see large gatherings of vendors and buyers from nearby villages and are central to the local economy.
