The UN Security Council (UNSC), under the presidency of Slovenia in December, plans to convene an open debate on the theme “Leadership for Peace.” The focus of the meeting is to discuss the qualities and adjustments necessary for the next UN Secretary-General to navigate the current era of rising geopolitical instability, armed conflicts, and acute financial shortfalls straining the multilateral system. The debate aims to generate reflections on conflict prevention and strengthening the UN’s unique role.
