Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is accelerating its commitment to road safety in India, positively impacting over 10 lakh people through its robust programs that emphasize education, innovation, and community engagement. TKM’s flagship initiative, the Toyota Safety Education Program (TSEP), has reached nearly 9.3 lakh students across 140 schools since FY23, using creative awareness campaigns such as skits and poster-making to instill road safety knowledge among school children.
The Toyota Hackathon, another key initiative, has involved 77,200 students from classes 7 to 12 in designing solutions for real-world road safety challenges. This program has led to over 350 innovative concepts aimed at improving school zone safety and traffic flow.
As Toyota’s road safety initiatives gain traction in major cities is also emerging as a key focus. With growing traffic concerns and urbanization in Nagaland, local stakeholders are increasingly exploring the adoption of similar programs. Educators and civic leaders have highlighted the need for structured road safety awareness to mitigate traffic-related risks, especially in school zones. There’s an expectation for TKM’s successful models to be integrated into local educational and community frameworks to promote safer roads.
