Abhishek Bachchan told he wanted to quit films, recalls father Amitabh Bachchan’s words: ‘I never raised you to give up, so keep fighting’

In a recent interview, Abhishek Bachchan reflected on the struggles he faced in the early days of his career.
Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has always been Abhishek Bachchan’s biggest cheerleader, never missing any opportunity to show his love and admiration for his son.
In a recent interview, during the promotions of his upcoming film Be Happy, Abhishek reflected on the struggles he faced in the early days of his career. He also shared his father’s invaluable advice, which served as a powerful inspiration to keep moving forward.
During a conversation with Nayandeep Rakshit, Abhishek was asked about the time when he was on the verge of quitting his acting career. Abhishek replied, “I have been in such situations.
At the beginning of my career, I was going through a very tough phase with my films. No matter how hard I tried, I was not able to achieve what I wanted to achieve and was not able to live up to the standards I had set for myself.”
The actor revealed that he was on the verge of quitting films, but his father Amitabh Bachchan’s words gave him the strength to persevere. “I remember one night I went to my father and said I made a mistake and no matter what I am trying, it is not working.
Probably, this is the world’s way of telling me this is not for you. He was amazing. He said, ‘I am telling you as an actor and not as your father, you have a long way to go, you are still nowhere close to the finished product, but you are improving with every film.
Just keep working and you will get there’. And, when I was leaving the room, he said I have not raised you to keep quiet, so keep fighting. It meant a lot,” he shared. Abhishek Bachchan believes that failure is an integral part of life and everyone has to go through it.
“Over time, you learn a lot and experience teaches you a lot. If you look at it, we are all fighting a losing battle. At the end of the day, none of us are going to get out of this job alive. You will fail, you just have to keep moving forward. Failure is an integral stepping stone to success.
Without failure, there is never going to be success. That is how I have seen it. It is like life, you breathe in, you have to breathe out. You are only accountable to your 8-year-old self and your 80-year-old self.”
When asked about situations when his loved ones supported him and motivated him to do better, he said, “It happens every day. It starts with your parents. They are protective about you, so this instinct can make them a little negative sometimes, but they will always support you and believe in you.
As a parent, if my daughter comes to me today and I am not sure about something she wants to do, but if I see the conviction in her belief, it gives me the conviction to say that she is going to be able to do it, because she is not going to give up.”
Abhishek Bachchan will next be seen in Be Happy, which also stars Nora Fatehi and Inayat Verma. Directed by Remo D’Souza, the film will stream on Amazon Prime Video from March 14.
