Eco-Clean Mebo Mission concludes with community-led environmental initiatives in Arunachal

The Eco-Clean Mebo Mission (ECMM), a year-long environmental initiative in Arunachal Pradesh’s Mebo Sub-Division, has successfully concluded, covering all 17 villages and Mebo town under the 39th Mebo Assembly constituency. The mission, launched in July 2024 as part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, focused on cleanliness, ecological balance, and village beautification through community-driven efforts. The campaign began in Ayeng village and concluded in Ralling village, with each locality adopting unique sustainability initiatives. From Ayeng’s Ketir-Momir tree plantation to Aohali’s zero-hunting movement, the mission fostered environmental consciousness at the grassroots level. Mebo town also launched an anti-drug campaign, while Ralling focused on Golbing trees plantation to support ericulture. As part of the final phase, three key missions were launched to further promote sustainable agriculture and afforestation:

Kamrakh Pariyojana in Namsing Village – This initiative aims to transform the village into a “Star Fruit Paradise” (Kordoi) through extensive plantation drives. The mission was formally launched on March 18, with Mebo MLA Oken Tayeng as the chief guest, alongside retired Dy. Commissioner Kumson Pangging and ZPM Mebo Banggo-II, Smty Oter Tayeng, as special guests. Aying Tadar Mission in Kongkul Village – This project focuses on developing a lychee farmstead, spearheaded by the Aying Tadar Mission Committee and Lupang Welfare Society. To ensure long-term success, the society pledged ₹1,000 per month to caretakers for nurturing lychee saplings.

Golbing Mission in Ralling Village – This initiative is dedicated to establishing a Golbing tree estate, essential for silk farming. The event was attended by MLA Oken Tayeng, public leader Dr. Dangi Perme, and ZPM Smty Oter Tayeng, along with community leaders from the Anbo Moyong Welfare Society. The final phase of the mission was coordinated by ECMM Manager Smty Olen Megu Damin, a Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee, along with ECMM Chairman-cum-ADC Mebo, Sibo Passing. Their leadership ensured that the projects were designed for long-term sustainability.Expressing optimism about the program’s impact, MLA Oken Tayeng, who also serves as the ECMM Patron, highlighted the importance of continued village participation. He stressed that the success of these initiatives depends on community unity, dedication, and a non-political approach.
