Paddy fields are destroyed by a herd of wild elephants from Kaziranga National Park

Farmers in the nearby villages of Panpur, Hakama, Thulatika, Bishnupur, and others that regularly share a border with the KNP and TR had their paddy harvests devastated by herds of wild elephants that emerged from the sixth edition of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve in quest of sustenance. Herds of wild elephants have ravaged hectares of the impoverished peasants’ croplands. Despite risking significant danger to their lives, the defenseless peasants make every effort to drive these enormous beasts out of their paddy fields, but in vain. In the past, the wild animals frequently traveled through their game trails.

The relevant department did nothing to protect the peasants’ croplands. The affected peasants have respectfully urged the relevant authorities to take the situation seriously. The moment for the peasants to harvest the ripe crops has come. The ripening of the seasonal crops is indicated by the yellowing of the paddy fields. However, more than half of the farmers’ hard-earned paddy (fasal) has been destroyed by herds of wild elephants before they can enjoy the annual harvest of their croplands.
