The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread thunderstorms, lightning and heavy rainfall across several parts of Arunachal Pradesh over the next few days, prompting authorities to advise residents to remain cautious and monitor weather updates.
According to a district-wise weather warning issued by the Meteorological Centre in Itanagar, several districts are likely to experience unstable weather conditions throughout the week. On Tuesday, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and heavy rainfall are expected at isolated places in West Kameng, East Kameng, Papum Pare, West Siang, Lower Dibang Valley, Lohit and Namsai districts.
The weather office has also predicted thunderstorm activity with lightning in East Siang, Upper Siang, Lower Siang, Dibang Valley, Anjaw, Changlang, Tirap and Longding districts.
The forecast indicates that adverse weather conditions are likely to continue on Wednesday. Heavy rain along with thunderstorms and lightning is expected in parts of West Kameng, Papum Pare, West Siang, Lower Dibang Valley and Upper Siang districts, while several other districts may witness thunderstorms and lightning.
On Thursday, thunderstorms and lightning are likely across a large part of the state. Heavy rainfall is expected at isolated locations in Tirap, Longding, Changlang, East Siang, West Kameng and Papum Pare districts. However, the IMD has not issued any weather warning for Tawang, Shi-Yomi, Kamle, Lower Subansiri and Upper Subansiri districts for the day.
The forecast for Friday suggests continued thunderstorm activity in many areas, with heavy rainfall likely in West Kameng, Papum Pare, Lohit, Namsai, Changlang, Tirap and Longding districts. Similar conditions are expected on Saturday, when heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms may affect West Kameng, Papum Pare, Lower Siang, Lohit, Namsai, Changlang, Tirap and Longding districts.
The IMD had already issued a warning for Monday, forecasting thunderstorms with lightning and heavy rainfall at isolated places in Papum Pare, Lower Subansiri, West Siang, East Siang, Lower Dibang Valley and Namsai districts. Thunderstorm activity is also expected in many other districts, although no weather warning has been issued for Tawang and Shi-Yomi.
