Mla assures permanent solution for rain-damaged khonsa–lazu road in arunachal

Incessant rainfall has extensively damaged about 200 metres of the Khonsa–Lazu Road in Khonsa East constituency of Arunachal Pradesh with the surface of the road subsiding by nearly three feet.
MLA of Khonsa East Assembly Constituency, Wanglam Sawin, however assured that every effort would be made to restore connectivity through the stretch at the earliest while pursuing a permanent solution to the recurring road subsidence near the Khonsa Post Office.
The assurance came during a joint inspection of the affected stretch on Tuesday undertaken by the MLA, along with additional DC, Khonsa, Namneet Singh, Superintending Engineer (PWD) engineer, Mitung Mize, Executive Engineer (PWD) Taro Jeram, the District Disaster Management Officer (DDMO), and engineers from the PWD, Power Department and PHED.
Addressing the media after the inspection, Sawin said the district administration and the Public Works Department are working in close coordination to expedite restoration of the damaged road.
He appealed to the residents to extend their full cooperation, stating that evacuation of the affected area is essential to facilitate utility shifting and enable repair works to commence without delay.
Expressing deep concern over the inconvenience caused to residents and commuters, the MLA reiterated that the safety and welfare of the people remain the Government’s highest priority.
He further informed that a long-term engineering solution is being explored to prevent similar incidents in the future, including the possibility of realigning the road by relocating the existing Post Office, subject to technical feasibility.
Officials informed that the restoration work would commence immediately after the shifting of utility lines and completion of the evacuation process. The department is also examining the feasibility of constructing a temporary diversion road to restore connectivity at the earliest.
