The BJP today appointed Bihar MLA Mangal Pandey as the party’s Assam State in-charge.
A former Minister of Bihar, Pandey is a seasoned political figure from the BJP who also served as the party in-charge for West Bengal.
The BJP also appointed Rajya Sabha member from Nagaland Phangnon Konyak and Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha from Alipurduars, West Bengal, Manoj Tigga as co-in-charges from Assam.
The appointments were announced as part of a nationwide organisational reshuffle approved by BJP national president Nitin Nabin, covering 36 states and Union Territories. The appointments will take effect immediately.
For Meghalaya, the BJP appointed Assam Rajya Sabha MP Kanad Purkayastha as its in-charge and former deputy speaker of Assam Assembly Dr Numal Momin as the co-in-charge.
