The Arunachal Pradesh State BJP President, along with party leaders from East Siang district, spearheaded an awareness campaign on the newly announced Next-Gen GST reforms at Pasighat market on Thursday. The initiative aimed to educate traders and citizens about the simplified tax system and its benefits.
Addressing the media at Siang Guest House, the state BJP chief explained that the new GST structure reduces the previous four-tier system of 5, 12, 18, and 28 percent to a simpler two-tier system of 5 and 18 percent. He emphasized that this reform will provide significant relief to farmers, small traders, and lower-income families, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of easing the financial burden on ordinary citizens.
During the outreach, Moyong, accompanied by local MLAs, councillors, and district party leaders, visited shops across the market, interacting with business owners to explain the advantages of the reformed GST. Traders were presented with roses as a symbolic gesture, while the BJP leaders encouraged them to support “Make in India” and “Vocal for Local” campaigns by prioritizing locally made products over imported goods.
