APSFC Chairman Tarh Tarak Reviews NFSA Implementation in Joint District Meet

Arunachal Pradesh State Food Commission (APSFC) Chairman Tarh Tarak high-level reviewed the implementation of the National Food Security Act (NFSA) during a crucial joint district meeting in Lower Subansiri. The gathering brought together administrative and department heads from both Lower Subansiri and Keyi Panyor districts, aiming to streamline food and nutrition distribution for eligible citizens.

During the session, APSFC Member Ngasah Tangjang highlighted the commission’s judicial powers, emphasizing its transition from British-era rationing to a modern, rights-based framework designed to protect vulnerable communities. While District Food and Civil Supplies officials updated the house on the extensive reach of the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) and Priority Households (PHH) schemes, Chairman Tarak addressed critical operational bottlenecks. He specifically directed the department to resolve technical irregularities plaguing electronic Point of Sale (ePOS) machines, stressing that technology must ensure transparency rather than act as a barrier for the public.

The review also addressed frontline challenges. Officials from the health and social welfare sectors discussed funding constraints impacting the Supplementary Nutrition Programme and the Janani Suraksha Yojana.

In his closing remarks, Chairman Tarak lauded the maintenance of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) godown but mandated the urgent establishment of a dedicated food testing laboratory to guarantee food safety and quality. Concluding the meeting, the Chairman issued a strict directive to all department heads to maintain impeccable statutory records. Furthermore, he urged officials to aggressively scale up public outreach campaigns so that every family across Lower Subansiri and Keyi Panyor fully understands and can easily access their rightful nutritional benefits.
