Following the conclusion of Conrad Sangma’s campaign for the National Peoples Party (NPP) in Arunachal Pradesh, NPP candidates across the state are intensifying their efforts to secure victory in their respective constituencies. Among them is Dikto Yekar, a two-term former MLA and NPP candidate contesting from the Daporijo constituency, situated in the strategic China border district of Upper Subansiri.
Amidst fervent support from hundreds of NPP supporters, both men and women, contributions poured in, ranging from eatables and drinks to the revered local state animal, the mithun, all in support of Dikto Yekar’s candidacy. With the stage set for a competitive electoral battle, Yekar stands poised to challenge the incumbent BJP MLA, Er Taniya Soki.
Yekar took the opportunity to highlight his past achievements during his tenure prior to 2019, while also pointing out the perceived sluggish pace of development in Daporijo town compared to other district headquarters in Arunachal Pradesh. He rallied citizens to rally behind the NPP, symbolized by the book, promising to usher in a wave of change and spearhead efforts to revitalize Daporijo across all sectors.
