Search and rescue operations in flash flood-hit Keyi Panyor district of Arunachal Pradesh entered the fourth day on Friday, with rescue teams recovering one more body while continuing efforts to trace three persons who remain missing.
According to the latest monsoon damage update issued by the district administration, the body of 30-year-old Ballari Marak, also known as Olyn Synkly, was recovered at around noon on June 27. The deceased was identified by local residents.
Ballari Marak was a resident of Bhoirymbong in Lumpshoping under Ri Bhoi district of Meghalaya. She was the daughter of late Shangain Syngkli and Willina K. Marak.
Joint search operations by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Keyi Panyor Police are continuing at the flood-affected NEEPCO Colony to locate the remaining missing persons.
The three individuals who are still untraced have been identified as 13-year-old Elesh Marak, Tao Anjina (46) and Sourav Kumar.
Meanwhile, road connectivity in the district remains severely disrupted due to continuous landslides. The Potin-Kimin Road is still blocked as fresh debris and earth continue to slide onto the roadway despite repeated clearance operations.
Police personnel have been deployed at vulnerable locations along the Pitapool-Potin route to assist in landslide clearance, regulate traffic movement and ensure public safety.
District authorities said restoration work is being carried out on a war footing, subject to weather conditions. Priority is being given to emergency response vehicles, transportation of essential supplies and deployment of engineering equipment to restore road connectivity at the earliest.
