Adequate Infrastructure Essential for Tribal Students’ Growth: Lowangdong

Borduria-Bogapani MLA Wanglin Lowangdong has stressed that quality education, supported by adequate residential infrastructure, is crucial for empowering tribal students and preparing them to become responsible citizens and future leaders.

He made the remarks while inaugurating a newly constructed boys’ hostel at the Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) in Khela, Tirap district, on Sunday. The MLA appealed to the villagers of Khela to generously donate additional land to facilitate the future expansion of the institution, stating that several essential infrastructures are still required to meet the growing needs of the school.

Lowangdong commended the school administration, teachers, and supporting agencies for their continued efforts in nurturing young minds. He urged students to maintain discipline, work hard, and make full use of the opportunities provided under the EMRS system.

The school principal highlighted the institution’s progress and achievements, reaffirming its commitment to providing quality education along with holistic development. He said the school actively promotes co-curricular activities such as yoga, parade, drawing, cultural programmes, games, and sports to build discipline, creativity, leadership, and overall personality development among students.

He also informed that students of EMRS Khela had the honour of meeting the President of India on 15 August 2024 as special invitees representing Arunachal Pradesh in traditional Nocte attire. The school has also consistently performed well in district and state-level competitions.

The hostel construction was funded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs under the Scheme for Grant to State Tribal Education Agencies. The event was attended by senior officials, public leaders, teachers, students, and parents.
