Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan today arrived in Arunachal Pradesh on a two-day visit to assess the flood situation in the state and adjoining Dhemaji district of Assam.
He will also take stock of the damage caused by the calamity.
Chouhan is accompanied by Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and MP from Arunachal Pradesh Kiren Rijiju.
Upon their arrival, Chouhan and Rijiju were welcomed by Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
Chouhan held a review meeting with senior officers of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh.
Tomorrow, he will visit flood-affected areas and relief camps in Keyi Panyor district, undertake an aerial survey of flood-affected areas in Lower Siang, Lepa Rada, East Siang in Arunachal Pradesh and Dhemaji in Assam, and visit the flood-affected areas in Pasighat and Dhemaji to review the relief situation on the ground.
Later, he will chair a review meeting with senior officers of the Government of Assam in Guwahati.
