Stranded Vehicle Owners Allege Theft Along Landslide-Hit Hoj–Potin Road in Arunachal

Owners of commercial vehicles stranded along the landslide-hit Hoj–Potin road in Arunachal Pradesh have alleged that their vehicles were targeted by thieves while traffic remained suspended due to the ongoing weather-related emergency.

According to the affected owners, several trucks and commercial vehicles were left stranded after landslides and flash floods blocked the route. With worsening weather conditions forcing many drivers to temporarily leave their vehicles, unidentified persons allegedly stole goods, vehicle accessories and other components.

The vehicle owners alleged that the incidents occurred while the vehicles remained unattended and described the acts as exploitation of people already affected by the natural disaster.

Expressing disappointment over the alleged thefts, the affected transporters appealed to the public to act responsibly and show compassion towards those facing hardship during the crisis.

They also urged the authorities to strengthen security along the affected stretch, protect stranded vehicles, and take strict action against those involved in the alleged thefts. The owners stressed that enhanced vigilance is essential to prevent further losses and ensure that relief efforts are not hampered by criminal activities.
