The Arunachal Adivasi Congress (AAC), the tribal wing of the Indian National Congress, has urged the Central Government to constitute a parliamentary committee to assess the ground situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Arunachal Pradesh amid reports of Chinese incursions and differing claims over border developments.
The AAC said the proposed committee should conduct a comprehensive review of infrastructure, civilian settlements, and security arrangements along the McMahon Line. It also recommended that the panel submit its findings to Parliament to facilitate informed discussion and appropriate policy decisions.
The party criticised Union Minister Kiren Rijiju over his recent remarks dismissing reports of Chinese intrusion in Arunachal Pradesh. AAC leaders questioned his response to concerns raised over border security and called on him to address the issue after an on-ground assessment. The party also demanded that the minister apologise to the people of Arunachal Pradesh and step down on moral grounds.
The AAC further referred to statements made in Parliament by BJP MP Tapir Gao regarding alleged Chinese activities along the border, including the renaming of locations in Arunachal Pradesh. According to the party, these developments warrant serious diplomatic and strategic attention.
In addition, the AAC highlighted several reported incidents of transgressions and military face-offs along the LAC over the past few years, stating that border security remains a matter of national importance.
The party urged the Central Government to adopt a transparent approach, strengthen border infrastructure, and ensure regular parliamentary oversight of developments in the sensitive frontier region.
