Durand Cup 2026 Trophy Tour Reaches Guwahati as Assam Prepares to Host Tournament for Fifth Straight Year

Assam Sports and Youth Welfare, Biswajit Daimary on Thursday underlined the need for nurturing young sportspersons after scouting talented youths from across the state.
Addressing the Durand Cup 2026 Guwahati Edition Trophies Display Ceremony in Guwahati, Daimary called for competitive mindset among youths to excel in football tournaments and even make the country compete at the highest level such as the FIFA World Cup.
Notably, the 135th Edition of Durand Cup 2026, oldest football tournament of Asia and third oldest tournament of world, will be conducted in five venues (capital cities) including Guwahati, Shillong, Imphal.
At the Durand Cup 2026 Guwahati Edition Trophies Display Ceremony, where the three legacy Trophies of Durand Cup were showcased.
The Durand Cup Trophies Tour is being conducted in the iconic city of Guwahati at Assam Legislative Assembly (16 July), Brahmaputra River Heritage Centre (16 July), IIT Guwahati (17 July) and City Centre Mall (17 July).
The tournament is being conducted in Assam for the fifth consecutive time since 2022. Indian Armed Forces along with support of the Government of Assam will host this elite tournament at Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Sarusajai, Guwahati.
A total of six Group F matches will be conducted from August 1 to 13, 2026 at IGA Stadium Guwahati. Teams of Group F are NorthEast United FC, Bodoland FC, Karbi Anglong Morning Star FC and FC 1 Club.
