The Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet has approved the recommendations of the High Power Committee (HPC) on recruitment eligibility criteria, effectively scrapping the existing 80:20 reservation arrangement for government jobs in the state.
Under the revised framework, possession of an Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe (APST) certificate and a Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) will be mandatory for candidates seeking government employment in Arunachal Pradesh.
Proficiency in the local dialect will also be made a compulsory eligibility criterion for recruitment to government posts.
The Cabinet approved the HPC recommendations on eligibility requirements, replacing the earlier 80:20 arrangement with a framework that places greater emphasis on indigenous status and local eligibility conditions.
The decision is aimed at strengthening the criteria for recruitment to government positions and ensuring that candidates meet the prescribed requirements relating to residency, tribal status and knowledge of the local dialect.
The move is expected to have a significant bearing on future government recruitment exercises across Arunachal Pradesh, with candidates required to fulfil the newly approved eligibility conditions.
