A major healthcare initiative aimed at strengthening specialised medical services in Lower Dibang Valley district was inaugurated at the District Hospital, Roing on Monday, with the commissioning of an advanced Phacoemulsification (Phaco) System for cataract surgery and a kidney dialysis machine.
The facilities were inaugurated by MLA Mutchu Mithi in the presence of Deputy Commissioner, Lower Dibang Valley, Fwwrman Brahma; District Medical Officer Dr. J. Mitapo; District BJP president Monti Linggi; Superintendent of Police Ringu Ngupok; Hunli-Desali Block ZPM Mama Miso; Emumi Mega, Koronu Block ZPM; and doctors, medical officers and hospital staff.
The Phacoemulsification System has been made available at the hospital with financial support under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Techfeb India.
The modern system will facilitate cataract operations at the district hospital, reducing the need for patients to travel outside the district for treatment.
Alongside the eye-care facility, a kidney dialysis machine has also been commissioned at the hospital.
The dialysis service will be provided free of cost to eligible patients and will commence from today, providing an important healthcare facility to people suffering from kidney-related ailments.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Mutchu Mithi said the initiative is a significant step towards improving healthcare services for the people of Lower Dibang Valley.
He said that earlier, patients requiring cataract surgery and dialysis services often had to travel to other states or distant cities, resulting in considerable financial expenses and hardship for families.
He expressed hope that the availability of these facilities at the district hospital would provide timely and affordable treatment to local residents and reduce the burden of travelling outside the district for specialised medical care.
The inauguration marks an important addition to the healthcare infrastructure of Lower Dibang Valley, particularly for patients requiring regular dialysis and those seeking cataract treatment.
With the dialysis facility being available free of cost and the Phaco system enabling advanced cataract surgery, the new services are expected to provide greater relief and convenience to the people of the district.
