BJP picks Likha Nari Tadar as Itanagar’s first woman mayor

On Monday, Likha Nari Tadar, a BJP corporator from Ward No. 16, took the oath of office as Itanagar Municipal Corporation’s (IMC) first female mayor.At the inaugural meeting of the newly elected IMC, Tok Tabin Camdir, who represents Ward No. 19, also took an oath beside her as the Deputy Mayor.Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso and Urban Affairs Minister Balo Raja were present at the event. Minister Raja congratulated the new mayor, deputy mayor, and all corporators and encouraged them to serve with honesty, morality, and commitment.

The Minister stated that financial strength is essential for successful ward-level development and urged the IMC leadership to concentrate on income production rather than relying exclusively on government programs. Additionally, he stressed the need of putting roads, drainage, sanitation, waste management, transparency, and grievance redressal first.Tadar thanked the public and stated that enhancing urban infrastructure, cleanliness, and the effective provision of municipal services in all wards will be her top priorities.
