A mild earthquake measuring 3.1 on the Richter scale struck Arunachal Pradesh in the early hours of Tuesday, the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) said. The tremor was felt around 12:58 am and originated at a shallow depth, which made it noticeable in nearby areas. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage, officials confirmed.
Arunachal Pradesh falls in a seismically active zone and frequently experiences low-intensity earthquakes. Earlier, on July 28 last year, a 3.5 magnitude earthquake had hit the Tirap district of the state, also without causing major damage.
Authorities continue to monitor seismic activity and have urged residents to remain alert, though there is no cause for panic at present
