AAPSU to Transform JNC Pasighat into State’s Premier Model Institute

In a significant move for the education sector in Arunachal Pradesh, the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has officially adopted Jawaharlal Nehru College (JNC), Pasighat, as its premier “Model Institute.” This strategic initiative aims to overhaul the state’s oldest higher education institution by addressing chronic infrastructure gaps and elevating its academic standards to a national level. During a high-level meeting at the college campus on Monday, the AAPSU leadership outlined a comprehensive roadmap that includes upgrading digital classrooms, improving laboratory facilities, and ensuring the timely recruitment of permanent faculty members. By focusing on JNC Pasighat, the union intends to create a blueprint for academic excellence that can eventually be replicated across other government-run colleges in the frontier state.

The adoption comes as a response to growing concerns over the deteriorating quality of infrastructure at JNC, which has long served as the academic backbone of East Siang district. AAPSU President indicated that the union would act as a dedicated bridge between the college administration and the state government to expedite pending development projects and secure necessary funding. The initiative also places a strong emphasis on student welfare, promising to upgrade hostel facilities and enhance the library’s resource pool to better support competitive exam aspirants. Faculty members and the student body have welcomed the move, expressing hope that this collaborative effort will restore the prestige of the historic institution. With this adoption, AAPSU has signaled a shift toward proactive educational advocacy, aiming to ensure that the students of Arunachal Pradesh have access to a learning environment that is both modern and competitive.
