Arunachal Minister P.D. Sona Elected Unopposed as State Taekwondo Association President

Arunachal Pradesh Minister for Education and Tourism, P.D. Sona, was on Monday elected unopposed as President of the Arunachal Taekwondo Association (ATA) during the Association’s 43rd Annual General Body Meeting-cum-Election held for the executive committee term 2026–2030. The election process was conducted in the presence of the Returning Officer, Assistant Returning Officer, legal experts, and observers from the Sports Association of Arunachal Pradesh, along with representatives of affiliated state organizations. Director of Sports Tadar Aapa and Director of Arunachal State Sports (ASS) Guia Karbak, along with other senior officials, attended the election and appointment ceremony. Following the completion of the election process, letters of appointment were formally distributed by the competent authority.

Speaking to the media, the newly elected president expressed happiness at being associated with the organization and assured his full commitment towards the growth and promotion of Taekwondo in the state. Sona also thanked the outgoing executive committee led by Kipa Kaha, stating that a new team had been constituted with renewed enthusiasm. “We are hopeful and will put in our best efforts to ensure that games and sports, particularly Taekwondo, reach new heights in Arunachal Pradesh,” Sona said. He further assured that the association would work with dedication and commitment for the promotion of sports across the state.

He added that the new executive committee would soon convene to explore further initiatives aimed at strengthening and promoting Taekwondo in Arunachal Pradesh. Meanwhile, ATA General Secretary Likha Robin informed that the election process was conducted smoothly and peacefully. He said the newly formed executive committee is united and working with team spirit to promote Taekwondo, expressing confidence that the sport would achieve greater heights under the leadership of President P.D. Sona.
