Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram joined the grand Silver Jubilee celebration of the Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society of Arunachal Pradesh (IFCSAP) as the Chief Guest, lauding the state’s dedication to preserving its rich cultural and spiritual heritage. The event, held at Indira Gandhi Park, has brought together over 4,000 delegates from across Arunachal Pradesh for a three-day cultural extravaganza, showcasing the diverse traditions and indigenous faiths of the state. Addressing the gathering, Union Minister Oram emphasized the importance of protecting indigenous values, commending Arunachal’s efforts to celebrate its cultural legacy.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu, in his address, underlined the timeless relevance of indigenous faiths, stating, “Indigenous faiths have existed since time immemorial, predating organized religions. To honor this heritage, we will rename the Department of Indigenous Affairs to include ‘Indigenous Faith and Culture.’” He also highlighted ongoing initiatives, including formulating rules to implement the Arunachal Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act, 1978.
Home and Indigenous Affairs Minister Mama Natung encouraged active participation from local communities, calling it an opportunity to showcase unity and pride. The celebration features cultural performances, traditional rituals, and exhibitions, reinforcing a collective commitment to safeguarding Arunachal’s traditions for future generations.
