The Red Ribbon Club and NSS Unit of Jawaharlal Nehru College (JNC), Pasighat, in collaboration with the Arunachal Pradesh AIDS Control Society (APSACS), organised the Red Run Mini Marathon 2026 on Friday to raise awareness about HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) among young people. Held under the theme “Youth for HIV and STI,” the event focused on HIV/STI prevention, testing, awareness and the need to tackle stigma and discrimination. More than 50 students from different departments took part in the marathon, which was flagged off by JNC Principal Dr Gindu Borang. Addressing the participants, Dr Borang urged students to stay informed about HIV and STIs and encouraged them to become responsible ambassadors of accurate health information while helping combat stigma associated with HIV/AIDS. Vice Principal Dr Leki Sitang stressed the importance of healthy lifestyles and responsible choices, while Red Ribbon Club Coordinator Dr Leki Wangchu highlighted the growing concern over STIs and the importance of preventive measures. Students also shared information on HIV cases in Arunachal Pradesh and East Siang and discussed the role of youth in reducing stigma through accurate information. In the marathon, Okenmang Lego of BA I Semester won the boys’ category, while Albina Doley of BA V Semester secured first place in the girls’ category. The winners were awarded medals and certificates.
