Chief Minister Pema Khandu hailed the recently built promenade along the Yomgo River at Puak Ghat, Aalo, as a revolutionary project that combines the beauty of nature with contemporary design when he officially opened it on Monday. At an initial cost of Rs 4.95 crore, the riverfront promenade is expected to improve the standard of living for Aalo locals and increase tourism in the area. The walkway serves as a place for leisure, safety, and economic development in addition to being an infrastructure improvement.
Key benefits outlined for Aalo residents include:
Recreational Space: A beautiful setting for rest, fitness, and socialization that enhances mental and physical health
Tourism and Economic Boost: Anticipated to draw tourists, generating revenue for nearby people and promoting economic growth.
Enhanced Safety and Infrastructure: While RCC retaining walls guard against erosion and flooding, contemporary features like parking, public utilities, and lighting guarantee accessibility and security.
Community Pride: A source of pride that represents Aalo’s advancement and enhanced standard of living.
Land disputes, landslides along transit routes, and rising river levels during monsoons were among the major obstacles the project had to overcome. The project was completed in spite of these obstacles, demonstrating the commitment of all parties involved. A further ₹3.03 crore was needed to extend the RRM structures and the RCC retaining wall due to unforeseen situations. CM Khandu praised the walkway as a “true delight” and conveyed gratitude for the teamwork that went into the project. In Arunachal Pradesh, the Yomgo Riverfront Walkway is currently expected to evolve into a popular tourist destination and recreational area, representing a major advancement in sustainable urban development.
