At 34, ‘Breaking Bad’ Fan-Favorite RJ Mitte Passes Away

The entertainment world is mourning the tragic death of actor RJ Mitte, who passed away on Monday at the age of 34 in Brownsville, Texas, after his representative and talent management agency confirmed that he died by suicide. Mitte achieved widespread international fame for his role as Walter White Jr., the disabled son of a chemistry teacher turned drug kingpin in the hit television series Breaking Bad where he featured in all five seasons from 2008 to 2013, using his personal experience with cerebral palsy to shape the character and bring authenticity to the screen. Transitioning his platform into a lifelong mission, the statement from his agency highlighted his legacy as a beloved philanthropist and passionate disability rights advocate who served as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s, acted as president of The Mitte Foundation to drive community initiatives, and represented performers with disabilities as a Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) spokesman while continually fighting against stereotypes.
