The spirit of patriotism swept through the streets of Tawang on Wednesday as a grand Tiranga Yatra was organised from the Giant Buddha Statue to the historic Tawang War Memorial as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.
Participants proudly carried a magnificent 100-metre-long National Tricolour, while hundreds of hands held the National Flag high with pride and honour.
The Tiranga Yatra was flagged off by In-charge Deputy Commissioner Tawang Rinchin Leta and Superintendent of Police Tawang Tasi Darang, in the presence of ZPM Kyidphel Tenzin Monpa, ZPM Tawang Sonam Nordzin, senior officers, officials and members of the public.
Earlier, addressing the gathering at the Giant Buddha Statue, In-charge Deputy Commissioner Rinchin Leta highlighted the significance of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign and recalled the inspiring role of the National Flag and Vande Mataram in India’s freedom struggle. He said that these powerful symbols gave courage and inspiration to the freedom fighters and continue to unite the people of India under one national identity.
He appealed to the people of Tawang to proudly hoist the National Flag at their homes till August 17 and wholeheartedly participate in the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga movement. At the same time, he reminded everyone that according due respect and dignity to the National Flag is a fundamental duty of every citizen and urged them to strictly follow the prescribed protocols while hoisting and handling the Tricolour.
Extending his greetings to the people on the forthcoming Independence Day, the In-charge Deputy Commissioner expressed gratitude to all the participants for their overwhelming and enthusiastic participation in the Tiranga Yatra.
The yatra witnessed spirited participation from personnel of the Indian Army, Border Roads Organisation and paramilitary forces, NCC Cadets, representatives of all four market committees, students of Dorjee Khandu Government College, Tawang and Town Secondary School, Tawang, besides a large number of citizens from different walks of life.
As the majestic 100-metre Tricolour moved through the town, the air reverberated with powerful chants of “Vande Mataram!” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai!”, transforming the streets of Tawang into a vibrant expression of national pride, unity and collective patriotism.
The yatra culminated at the historic Tawang War Memorial, where it was warmly received by the Deputy Commander and senior officers of the Tawang Brigade.
In the solemn presence of the memorial dedicated to the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation, the gathering joined together for a mass singing of “Vande Mataram.”
The powerful voices rising together beside the symbol of valour and sacrifice created a deeply moving moment, paying tribute to India’s bravehearts while reaffirming the collective resolve to uphold the unity and integrity of the nation.
The Tawang Brigade of the Indian Army also provided refreshments to all the participants at the culmination of the programme.

Mataram” across the land of the brave, Tawang today stood united beyond age, uniform and background — under one flag, with one spirit and one heartbeat: India.
