Anini in Arunachal earns national honour as ‘Best Emerging Adventure Destination’

Arunachal Pradesh has received a moment of pride with Anini in Dibang Valley being conferred the “Best Emerging Adventure Destination” award at a national tourism platform. The honour was presented during the 17th Annual Convention of the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India, which was held in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. The award was handed over by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. Officials at the event said the award recognises Anini’s fast-growing popularity among adventure travellers and its steady progress in the tourism sector. They said the honour also reflects Anini’s commitment toward planned and sustainable tourism development.

Officials from the Department of Tourism, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, and local tourism groups in Dibang Valley have been working to build a responsible tourism model for many years. People familiar with the development shared that Anini’s approach gives importance to nature protection, community involvement and environmental balance. Local residents and tourism workers have actively supported conservation efforts while opening new opportunities for visitors. The focus on nature-sensitive tourism has allowed Anini to gradually emerge as a destination for adventure activities such as trekking, nature exploration and mountain experiences.

The national-level recognition is being seen as an important milestone for Arunachal Pradesh tourism, especially for the remote Dibang Valley region, which has long remained unexplored due to difficult terrain and limited connectivity. The award was received on behalf of Anini district by District Tourism Officer Lamwang Aran. Tourism officials expressed hope that the recognition will help draw more responsible travellers, generate employment for the local community and encourage investments in sustainable infrastructure.
