Sugar shoppers are facing a new hurdle as several quick-commerce platforms have started putting limits on the quantity of sugar customers can order. Zepto, Blinkit and Swiggy Instamart are among the platforms that have restricted purchases of selected sugar products amid rising prices and increased demand.
The restrictions have come just before the festive season, when demand for sugar typically increases as families prepare sweets and traditional desserts at home. Many consumers are also buying extra quantities in anticipation of further price hikes, adding to the pressure on supplies.
Zepto has placed limits on certain sugar products and indicated limited availability for some items. Blinkit has similarly capped purchases of select sugar packs. On Swiggy Instamart, customers can currently order a maximum of two 1-kg packs of Supreme Harvest Crystal Sugar in a single order.
With sugar becoming more expensive and purchase quantities being restricted, consumers are now facing what can be described as a double squeeze during the festive season.
