Arunachal’s Saloma Yomdo poised to lead as Director of Exploration & Development at Oil India Limited

In a significant development, Saloma Yomdo from Arunachal Pradesh emerges as the frontrunner for the coveted position of Director (Exploration & Development) at Oil India Limited (OIL), a distinguished Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas. Following a rigorous selection process, Yomdo clinched the position from a pool of 12 candidates after being interviewed by the PESB Selection Panel on May 20, 2024. Hailing from Nyapin in Kurung Kumey district, Arunachal Pradesh, Saloma Yomdo’s academic journey began at Govt. Higher Secondary School Tezu and culminated with a degree in Petroleum Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad.

Joining OIL through campus recruitment in 1994, Yomdo’s trajectory within the company has been marked by commendable achievements and steady advancement. Currently serving as the Executive Director of the Exploration & Development Directorate, he oversees all E&D activities of OIL nationwide and abroad. Yomdo’s expertise extends beyond his professional realm, evidenced by his active involvement in renowned industry bodies such as the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), USA, and the Association of Petroleum Geologists (APG). He has contributed significantly to the field, having presented and published technical papers in various international and national platforms.

Assuming the role of Director (Exploration & Development), Yomdo will join the esteemed Board of Directors and report directly to the Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of OIL. In this capacity, he will spearhead the formulation of exploratory policies and budgets, while diligently monitoring the progress of exploration and development programs.
