AUS vs BAN 2nd Test: Mitchell Starc’s Six-Wicket Haul Destroys Bangladesh for 64

Mitchell Starc turned the second Test on its head with a sensational six-wicket haul as Bangladesh were dismissed for just 64 at Mackay.

The Australian left-arm pacer needed only one delivery to make an impact, removing Shadman Islam for a duck. It was the ninth time Starc had taken a wicket in the opening over of a Test, taking him ahead of James Anderson’s record of eight.

Starc then tore apart the Bangladesh middle order, claiming five wickets within his first seven overs. Bangladesh were left struggling at 12/5 before Pat Cummins joined in and claimed three wickets for 25 runs.

With the score at 39/9, Taijul Islam and Shoriful Islam staged a brief recovery. Their 25-run stand for the final wicket took Bangladesh to 64 and prevented them from falling below their lowest-ever Test total of 43.

The innings also marked a major milestone for Starc. His six wickets took his career tally to 441, surpassing Dale Steyn’s 439. Starc now has 19 five-wicket hauls and three 10-wicket match hauls in Test cricket.

Australia reached 50/3 at tea, with Steve Smith and Cameron Green unbeaten.
