Completion of key electro-mechanical work brings Subansiri project closer to commissioning: Arunachal Deputy Chief Minister

The 2,000-MW Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project in Arunachal Pradesh has achieved a key milestone with the completion of a major electro-mechanical work, said Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Thursday.
He said the successful “lowering of the 395-metric tonne generator stator of unit 7” takes the project a step closer to completing its full installed capacity.
The electro-mechanical work was completed on Wednesday, marking another important stage in the construction and commissioning of the project, which comprises eight generating units of 250 MW each, the officials said.
“A significant step forward for the 2,000 MW Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project with the successful lowering of the 395 MT Generator Stator of Unit #7 on 30 September 2026,” Mein said.
“This critical milestone in the electro-mechanical works brings the project closer to commissioning Unit #7 and, subsequently, its full installed capacity of 2,000 MW (8×250 MW). I congratulate the entire NHPC and Subansiri Lower Project team, along with all stakeholders involved in this important achievement,” he said, describing this as a major step towards strengthening the Northeast’s power infrastructure and Arunachal Pradesh’s energy potential.
