Congress calls for re-polls in Arunachal Pradesh amid alleged irregularities

The Arunachal Pradesh unit of the Congress party has intensified its demand for re-polls in two critical polling stations under the Nacho assembly constituency of the state. The Arunachal Pradesh Congress has specifically urged for re-polling in Dingsar and Lengi polling stations, citing alleged irregularities witnessed during the re-polls conducted on April 24.

The call for re-polls comes in the wake of concerns raised over the fairness and transparency of the electoral process. Notably, the Election Commission of India (ECI) had ordered re-polling in these two polling stations, alongside six others, following reports of violence and booth snatching during the initial voting held on April 19.

Arunachal Pradesh Congress vice-president Toko Mina emphasized the paramount importance of upholding the principles of free and fair elections. The party’s demand underscores the need for robust mechanisms to ensure electoral integrity and public trust in the democratic process.
