Divergence Tunnels Of Dibang Project In Aruanchal Inaugurated

Two critical divergence tunnels of the 2880 MW Dibang Multipurpose Project in Aruanchal Pradesh were inaugurated on Wednesday, marking a major milestone in one of India’s largest hydroelectric ventures.
The tunnels, constructed by Larsen & Toubro (L&T Construction), are expected to significantly accelerate the progress of the dam.
Narendra Kumar, Executive Director of the Dibang Multipurpose Project (DMP), expressed his gratitude to L&T Construction for completing the work within the stipulated time.
He stated that with the completion of the divergence tunnels, the pace of dam construction will now increase substantially, paving the way for faster overall project execution.
Speaking on the occasion, Pradip Kumar Mahanti, Administrative Head and Industrial Relations (IR) of L&T, highlighted the challenges faced during the construction of the tunnels and the dam project as a whole.
He emphasised the complex terrain and demanding conditions under which the work was carried out.
Mahanti also appreciated the efforts of NHPC Limited for its effective project management and for ensuring steady progress of the dam.
The Dibang Multipurpose Project, once completed, is expected to play a crucial role in power generation, flood control, and regional development in Arunachal Pradesh.
