‘Jal Aapda’ Exercise On Disaster Management Concludes In Tawang

A two-day exercise ‘Jal Aapda’ was conducted in the Tawang area in Arunachal Pradesh from May 11 to 12, showcasing seamless coordination and preparedness for flash floods and debris slide scenarios in high-altitude terrain.
The exercise was jointly undertaken by the Army, GajrajCorps, District Disaster Management Authority under District Administration, Tawang, SDRF, paramilitary forces, NCC and local stakeholders.
Lessons from the Dharali mudslide disaster in Uttarakhand (August 2025) were integrated into the Disaster Management Plan to strengthen response mechanisms.
Key highlights of the programme included real-time activation of the Joint Control Centre and District Incident Response Team; drone-based area mapping and search operations; casualty evacuation and medical aid and multi-agency relief and rescue coordination.
Exercise Jal Aapda reinforced inter-agency synergy, rapid response capability and operational readiness for Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR), reaffirming the commitment to safeguarding lives in remote high-altitude regions.
