Minister Wahge Urges Public Vigilance and Community Action as Dengue Cases Increase in ICR

Arunachal Pradesh Health and Family Welfare Minister Biyuram Wahge has directed senior health officials to significantly intensify disease surveillance, diagnostic testing, and preventive interventions in response to a concerning rise in dengue cases across the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) and neighboring areas. During a high-level review meeting convened to assess the vector-borne disease situation and formulate effective containment strategies, Minister Wahge emphasized the critical importance of rigorous medical testing, early case detection, and continuous patient monitoring. The deliberations specifically focused on bolstering public awareness campaigns, executing aggressive source reduction protocols, and enhancing multi-departmental coordination between the Health Department, the Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC), and various local authorities. Furthermore, the minister instructed officials to ensure a prompt administrative response, deliver adequate healthcare support to all affected individuals, and maintain strict vigilance in vulnerable pockets to prevent the outbreak from spreading to unaffected districts. As part of these concerted efforts, the Health Department is actively conducting active case detection and community-level vector control, while the IMC is leveraging its garbage collection vehicles and ward-level networks to disseminate educational messaging regarding dengue prevention. Emphasizing individual responsibility, Wahge appealed to all residents to remain vigilant by eliminating stagnant water breeding sites around homes and workplaces, keeping water storage containers securely covered, and maintaining overall environmental cleanliness. He also advised citizens to adopt personal protection measures such as utilizing mosquito nets and repellents and wearing full-sleeved garments, while strongly urging anyone experiencing fever or dengue-like symptoms to seek immediate medical consultation and strictly refrain from self-medication. Concluding his remarks, the minister reassured the public that there is no cause for panic, reiterating that prompt medical care, rigorous personal precautions, and active community-wide participation remain key to successfully curbing the transmission of dengue across the region.
