Police rearrested a murder convict, Birju Bhumij, on Wednesday after he escaped from Koloriang sub-jail in Kurung Kumey district of Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday.
According to officials, the breakthrough came following swift action by the police team, combined with strategic planning and continuous monitoring. A tip-off provided by some residents of Nikja village played a key role in tracking down the convict, leading to his arrest.
Police stated that the operation reflects the force’s readiness and efficiency in handling such situations. Authorities also emphasized the importance of public cooperation in maintaining law and order.
The district administration has extended its gratitude to the residents of Nikja village for their timely assistance, vigilance, and support in helping police bring the accused back into custody.
The accused, who was convicted in 2014, was undergoing life imprisonment at the sub-jail.
