Arunachal Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein inaugurated a state-of-the-art double-court badminton hall at Hisam Colony, Aalo, on Tuesday, underscoring the government’s commitment to advancing sports infrastructure in Arunachal Pradesh. The facility, located within the Taken Riba DBA Indoor Badminton Stadium, was built with an investment of ₹2 crore and is equipped to host tournaments and train young athletes. The inauguration coincided with the 4th edition of Arunachal Yuva Samanvay, held at Kombo Jirdin, Aalo, celebrating the state’s rich cultural diversity and the potential of its youth. The event brought together representatives from Arunachal’s 26 major tribes and over 100 sub-tribes, emphasizing the theme of unity in diversity.
In his address, Chowna Mein highlighted the importance of empowering the younger generation. “Our youth are the architects of tomorrow. It is our duty to nurture their talents and provide them with opportunities to shape Arunachal’s future,” he said. The event, attended by 750 participants, featured cultural performances, exhibitions, and interactive discussions. As part of the “Year of Youth” initiative for 2024-25, the government introduced several programs, including the Arunachal Pradesh Scholarship for Academic Excellence, annual Rozgaar Melas, Youth Parliaments, and the Arunachal Olympic Mission.
Significant infrastructure developments were also announced, including a FIFA-standard football stadium in Itanagar and state-funded training programs for commercial pilot licenses and merchant navy aspirants. Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Kento Jini, along with MLAs Topin Ete and Nyabi Jini Dirchi, former Minister Doi Ado, and other dignitaries, graced the occasion. The Arunachal Yuva Samanvay continues to inspire pride in cultural heritage and catalyze youth empowerment, solidifying its role as a cornerstone of progress in the state.
