BMTPC Intensifies Year-Long Campaign for Cleanliness and Environmental Conservation

The Bamin Michi Tourism Promotion Committee (BMTPC) has organised a cleanliness drive-cum-awareness programme in Bamin Michi, Lower Subansiri district, as part of its year-long campaign to transform the village into a clean, sustainable, and visitor-friendly tourist destination. The initiative aims to encourage lasting behavioural change among residents by promoting cleanliness, proper waste management, and environmental conservation.

The campaign began several weeks ago with an extensive door-to-door awareness programme, during which volunteers visited every household and encouraged residents to pledge their commitment to maintaining clean homes and surroundings. This was followed by a series of community meetings highlighting the importance of public participation in developing Bamin Michi as a successful tourist village.

The latest programme focused on cleaning public spaces while reinforcing the message that maintaining cleanliness is a shared responsibility and a key pillar of sustainable tourism. Residents and volunteers actively participated in the drive, reflecting the community’s growing commitment to preserving the village’s natural beauty.

Addressing the gathering, BMTPC General Secretary Michi Byai said the event marked the beginning of a long-term movement rather than the conclusion of a single campaign. He reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to continuing awareness programmes and encouraging greater community participation in the months ahead.

The BMTPC believes that sustained collective efforts will help position Bamin Michi as an ideal tourist destination where environmental conservation, cultural heritage, and community responsibility come together to create a memorable experience for visitors while ensuring the long-term sustainability of the village.
